AC:4 Professional Practice

Proposal

The word catharsis comes from the Greek word katharsis, which, literally translated, means “a cleansing or purging. So my first goal of research shall be thorough the definition and meaning behind musical catharsis. It involves the sudden release of heavy emotions and a barrage of such that may have been weighing you down for quite some time. Understanding the feel of catharsis shall link with my informing ideas. Acting aggressively or even viewing aggression is an effective way to reduce angry feelings and aggressive impulses. This emotional cleansing was believed to benefit both the individual and society.

Popular music or music as a hole in general, explores a-lot of little nuances within the relationship between  our political, economics, culture, technology and the envoi mental factors that make up our Morden digital society a reality. Artists and musicians can express their feelings, viewpoints and perceptions of this reality that we live in though the power of the digital age. Social media and networking can spread the word of wisdom and influence like no other. And artistic musical expression is one of those factors that shape the way a person's perception of our reality is. A band called Death (2013)  The punk spirit by it's rebellion  against the established and expected. the punk genre relentlessly continues to push the boundaries with it's bombastically acquired taste in extreme musical artistic expression. Subverting the normality than wasn't quite known the early 70s. Peoples lives and attitudes throughout this time period were seeking a new form of closure and "catharsis" to help uplift the great depression of the world thorough the back end of the 60s.

In the days of which we live in as-well many people i starting to now realise and wake up to the possibly of that society and politics is not telling the truth. The Politian's and their twisted propaganda can give the impression of every is fine and under control. And people are now questioning their beliefs in life and governmental belief and faith within society. This is especially important as to now. Corona virus has all of us within the well of uncertainty. People need catharsis to help them bring closure to their insecurities. Catharsis has never been so more important within our age of technological dystopia. as life and society is so fast past and psychologically stressful and times, people have never needed more of an safe outlet to realise their inner conflicts, anger and emotion

Organisation/Plan:

January 15th.

By the time of this date my script writing and story overview should be fully completed and ready to be used within my on-going progressing movie shoot. The program that i have used to create my script on is celtix.  https://www.celtx.com/a/ux/scripteditor?id=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.celtx.com%2Ffeeds%2Fdefault%2Fprivate%2Ffull%2F1d32d778a12ebbf3e307557b4be485e2cefc962i#noreload A fully professional media pre-production program that allows any aspiring script writers or screenplay directors to be able to create professional and efficient looking scripts. The reason to why I choose Celtx over the the other individual script writing programs is because the programme is used by many professionals within the movie business and the advertising/marketing industry. This is good because I want my pre-production work to stand out and feel much more serious, grounded and real, rather then using a cheap Microsoft word document or PowerPoint to write my sophisticated script writing.

(Due to unfournate reasons the like to my celtx does not currently work if so, sorry for the inconvenience.)

Locational whereabouts of shooting is the next step within my plan for pre-production before moving onto the physical side of movie shooting and scheduling. My original plan for my 'Musical catharsis' within the digital age was to shoot most of my stock video and interview within the college's studio. This was a good idea because it meant that i could have all the the creative tools and equipment within the studio at my disposal, and had the opportunities to make the make the interview look as dark, light or colourful as i wanted to be. This would make my documentary look more professional, smoother for my audience and target demographic a like. However, due to the on-going Covid lockdown the accessibility to those previous tools and material have been lost. Therefore to make my Documentary more efficiently viable for me and my planned shooting schedule. My interview shall now take place on teams within a recorded session with one of either my fellow students, or lecturers  within the department of media. For example...

Risk Assessments:

January 23rd

Risk assessment should be under way with completion following the governmental laws and UK safety restrictions and guidelines. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjFio-Xl5buAhVGxNUKHU59AqAYABAAGgJ3cw&ae=2&sig=AOD64_0mUT3CWPY-f1kCr92PEP9y49xp8w&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwie3IWXl5buAhUO6RoKHbK7CUQQ0Qx6BAgSEAE

Carrying out a risk assessment was very important to the overall project during pre-production because i wanted to carry out my procedures as just as serious, and as just as professional like any other productive, Morden day production. Risk assessments and health safety guidelines ensure not only the safe guard for the people involved, but also benefits the piece of mind to the audience that this isn't just a a sloppy put together and production, but it's professional and hard-working. This will make me stand out more against already co-existing documentary productions working on my level. As most usually haven't got the professional standards of Morden day video production.

Moving along with my technical skill & capabilities, I have recorded and took pictures of some of my potential l video scenes that would be pleasant in my final cut of the documentary. Recording test footage and demo tests of my potential finalized product is very important because professionally this would bee seen as productive and presents that I can think outside of the box. It also shows that I take within my production work and nothing mediocre or average will be acceptable, within the final cut of the documentary video production. This also gives me important and sufficient time to experiment and help broaden my horizons with new resources and equipment etc., giving me more professional overview of the resources and tools that I have to hand in order to make as best of a final product video as possible.

STORYBOARD

Storyboard was essinalical part of my pre-production because without pre-conceived notion, thoughts and ideas fully drowned out and written down both literally and visually my video production schedule would have been rendered unorganized, un-proffesnial and extremely inefficient. This was very important to get right as planning and staging of spefic shots and time-lapse would smoothly push my video production in the best possible direction.
My first stage of finding out what the best preferred angles of my video would be like was to take as many stilled images as possible. I shot all of images on my Canon 4000D DSLR, the reason why i choose to shot my shots in such extreme high-light conditions was so that I could detail this best and most adequate shots to use for my potential video shoot. This also helped me to eliminate any kinds of problems or unexpected compromises to my video production work.
Darker images where to more so to simulate what my video photo was potentially going to look like whilst during the shooting stage. This was an important idea because making sure that my photo mode settings where exactly the same to my video settings would give the best and most accurate interruption/simulation of my video shots and clips. This helped me to match the videography as accurate as possible my original storyboard and visual image design layouts.
This particular camera shot should look fairly familiar to you. That's because it is the actual still shot that I used as my establishing full title screen in my finalized documentary video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRViIwMP_5w This shot was a good choice because it helped establish the visual theme of my documentary. Musical catharsis in' the digital age', is quite ironic here, as my video is a digital video format, yet all of my items and objects throughout the video as you can see or not.

This was used and done delicately during my documentary as it expresses a form of dramatic irronary. The audience knows that my musical accessibilities are physical and humanized objects of sound. Yet my audience are watching this documentary through video on YouTube's format. This conveys to my audience an important reminder regardless of how music is accessed the digital way of life and accessibility still plays a vital role in allowing access to the people who need the musical stimulation.
Overall, the theme/vibe that i fully wanted to go for was a little hearted and easy-going. Due the on-going pandemic and limited resources to what I had to hand, I wanted to create something more cheerful and less boringly serious much like my other previous works on level 2 media involving a lot of horror. My audience wants/needs a positive mental relief within their daily video consummation a 'Carathasis' if you will, to give them something to look forward too at the end of their day. This is the reason also to why i kept the planning as simple as possible to emulate the purpose of this whole project. Charming, uplifting and hopeful.
This links to my message at the heart of the project that musical carthasim is largely increased and benefited by mass digital accessibility and consumerism. Further shows of the turntable further emphasises even as something as simple and primitive as this particularly object, it is till very much required to still have power from electricity. And what does the internet and other technological devices require to work? ELECRTICITY Further empathising the incredibly important role into which the digital age can make access to music so much easier, quicker and more efficient.
