AC-3 Technical Skill
My Editing Process
I used a vast range of test videos and images that both helped serve me in my screenplay writing stage and script writing stage. Having visual references for potential pre-production was very important and helpful to me as I was able to use the advantage of having my own Canon DSLR, to my advantage. This is important because my test footage helped to eliminate certain potential problems that could have plagued my video production for this smile advert video. Furthermore, I was able to gather a sufficient video file that portrays the rough idea/demonstration to what my final video advert will look like. This was crucial within the software testing stage, as I was able to experiment with my footage and learn the ropes of the programme that i was going to be using as primer pro was obviously not to hand. This shows that I can be comprising and resourceful when it comes to difficult situations during the pandemic that I can work smoothly and calmly, whilst under pressure. These are just a few small inside looks and screenshots of 'the hive' so to speak of my video production. Here you can see that I'm in the middle of editing and pulling together all of my appropriate footage and audio that shall be all integrated together and edited together to make a strong cohesive video. The film editing program that i have used for to make/put together my documentary video was filmora 9. https://filmora.wondershare.com/video-editor/video-editor-download.html
Filmora-9. Designed for all video content creators, whether a beginner, an ammeter, or a professional. It has a simple interface (much like the already beloved primer pro). It has plans for individuals, businesses, educators, and students, making it a superb and attractive choice for video editing. This was good as i needed an editing software that i can could rely apron time and time again, I will also look towards this program for any other future projects to come as the quality of work and professionalism i was able to achieve, excruciate and attain was very impressive. I'm proud of what I was able to produce and looking forward to improve apron peer feedback and self reflecment after lecturer marking.
My first logical step into my editing stage was to compile ALL of my footage/clips into my editing software. Because without footage there is obviously no way, shape or form I would be able to create my documentary video into one piece. Hence, i loaded up my SD card files onto my computers drive and clicked the import option on the editing interface.
My next step was to drag and select the appriote video clip I wanted to use for example. (The first opening shot of the arm chair and window which serves as the opening shot in the advert.) and placed into my video time window in which you in the the screenshot above, right on top my audio time frame section. The reason to why I set up my editing program up this way was so i had easy access to my snipping tool. The snipping tool is used to split video from audio and turn them into separate sections of information/data. This allows full creative control of both my audio and video settings/preferences. As you see hear I delete my audio channel on almost all of video files through out, as I was inputting other forms of sound into them. E.g., my non-copyrighted music that I found on. https://www.bensound.com/
With all of my video files assembled in the video time frame, extra snipping and cutting of my co-existing is necessary to piece to together a cohesive matching storyline to my storyboard. See AC:4 for further details. Editing and cutting of footage is necessary as to get the finished look and feel of a video of what you want. Also a video is going to look much more proffesnial when even just a little amount of effort is put into the editing. Editing is absolutely essential into making fun, interesting and engaging pieces of media as almost everything within modern day consumerism is centred around the key core attractions of video making. Even more importantly, built in effects within the program was also used, to further enhance the video's look.
Within the final stages of my video editing, last process of being to get my smile advert video up onto the internet and to all the world, my next logical step is to upload it to YouTube. Simply saving and placing my project in a secure place on my computer's digital folder is absolutely essential to make sure that file i have worked so hard does not become corrupt or lost in any way. This is to prevent any mix-ups/hiccups during final realisement stages and shows that I am able to save, select, store and organize all of my work and co-existing projects to a safe place. By selecting file, then EXPORT I can select any type of vast methods of exporting my video onto. This was very good as it give more than plentiful amount of options to choose if my plan of uploading my video finally on YouTube didn't go quite to plan. Having back-ups and plan-bs show that I can empriphse and be flexible on the spot if I ran into any problems. Making troubleshooting and productive working much easier to handle.
The grand total length of my Smile advert video goes up to 2 mins & 45 seconds. The reason to why i kept this video as short and sweet as possible was due to the limited time, energy, resources and efficacy to create a much more grandiose video production was simply not an tenable within the confinements from working at home. However, this most certainly helped me innovate and motivate myself to encourage elaborated ways of achieving my end goal/result by the end of the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ES3XsOvZXRY
